Current Series:
Series Overview
The month of January is centered around remembering the benefits of God and how it affects our vision coming into a new year. This five-week series will progress through Psalm 103:1-5 and establish the new year around God’s goodness and faithfulness to us through forgiveness, healing, redemption, love, and satisfaction.
January 10th– Forgiveness & Healing
Primary Scripture: Psalm 103:1-3a; Colossians 2:13-14; 1 Peter 2:24; Colossians 3:12-13
Main Point: God forgives & Heals us.
Application Point: We can receive healing once we forgive.
Parent Cue: Apologizing is a very hard thing for us to do. Whether it is our pride or stubbornness, but it is important to forgive so we can start to heal from our hurts. Let’s start the year off right, encourage your students to forgive those who have hurt them in their life. It could be big or small, it doesn’t matter. Once we get in this practice, we are becoming more and more like Jesus.
January 17th – Redemption
Primary Scripture: Psalm 103:1-2,4a; Galatians 3:13-14; Isaiah 44:22
Main Point: God redeems us.
Application Point: You are not to far gone for Jesus to make things right in your life.
Parent Cue: Sometimes when we get wrapped up in our sin, we convince ourselves that we are unlovable or worse – we give up. God never gives up on us and that is a beautiful thing! Make it a habit of continuously remind your students that the love that God has for them is represented by the love you have for them.
January 24th– Love
Primary Scripture: Psalm 103:1-2,4b; Romans 5:7-8; John 15:9-11
Main Point: God Loves Us.
Application Point: There is a difference between knowing God loves you and experiencing it!
Parent Cue: Because we have been redeemed and received healing through forgiveness, the love that God has for us is not hard to understand. The follow through of that is abiding/staying in that love as much as we can. Encourage your students to meditate on God’s love and find their own unique way of experiencing God’s love.
January 31st– Satisfaction
Primary Scripture: Psalm 103:1-2,5; John 4:7-15; Matthew 6:31-33
Main Point: God Satisfies Us.
Application Point: We can always find temporary satisfaction – seek out permanence.
Parent Cue: There is instant access to satisfaction in our world. In fact, our students are dependent on it because of social media. But that eventually fades. The satisfaction God offers us often looks different than what we expect/want it to be. Share with your student this week of how you have found satisfaction with what God has supplied to you in your life.
